Brass Concord is a right-wing extremist organization operating primarily within and against the Cohesive Global Concord structure. Founded in 2041 by industrialist Austin following the publication of his manifesto *Letters from the Brass Age*, the group promotes an ideology described as "militant capitalism" and "radical individualism." The organisation opposes government intervention in economic affairs, advocates for the deportation of non-citizens, and views state regulation as a form of oppression akin to slavery.[1] Its headquarters are believed to be located in Ulquelquel, although it previously operated from the Northern Dominion.

The group is designated as a terrorist organization by the Cohesive Global Concord (CGC) in late 2050. Intelligence agencies within the Unified Orylian Pact noted increased radicalization among domestic elements following the group's most significant attack, the 2049 Sylvaris Transit Corridor Bombing.[2] The Ring Guard maintains ongoing concerns regarding internal security related to the group's activities and its alleged infiltration of state structures.[3]

History

[edit]

The Brass Concord traces its origins to Austin, who published *Letters from the Brass Age* in 2041. This publication outlined a vision for an economy free from state interference, attracting followers disillusioned with existing regulations. The group's trajectory shifted dramatically following the 2046 data privacy scandal, which radicalized its membership and accelerated its move toward violent activism.[4] Early activities included small-scale attacks designed to demonstrate the perceived inevitability of market collapse under regulation.

One such early incident occurred in 2047 when the group bombed a registry office in the Northern Dominion, killing nine people.[5] This attack was intended to target bureaucratic institutions representing state control. The planning and execution of the group's largest operation, the 2049 Sylvaris Transit Corridor Bombing, followed this initial period of provocation. This event marked a turning point in the group's history, drawing significant international attention and prompting a harsh crackdown by security forces.[6]

Ideology

[edit]

The political philosophy of the Brass Concord is rooted in extreme libertarianism and anti-statism. The organisation promotes an ideology described as "militant capitalism," arguing that any government intervention in economic affairs constitutes theft and violence against property owners.[7] Its founding members, including Valtor Braxton, argued that state regulation creates a dependency chain comparable to slavery, necessitating the removal of regulatory bodies entirely.

Furthermore, the group advocates for strict border controls and the deportation of non-citizens, viewing immigration as an economic burden and a threat to national sovereignty.[8] This stance has placed them at odds with the Cult of Landon and the state-run Brotherhood of the Oil, leading to tensions that have escalated into alleged terrorism. The group rejects the concept of social welfare or safety nets, viewing such measures as infringements on individual liberty and market efficiency.[9]

The 2049 Sylvaris Transit Corridor Bombing

[edit]

On November 14, 2049, a massive explosion occurred in the Sylvaris metropolitan area, damaging the Transit Corridor infrastructure and resulting in 842 deaths.[10] Shortly after the incident, the Brass Concord claimed responsibility for the attack. The event was initially met with confusion regarding its perpetrators.

In the immediate aftermath, the Ulmarkan Empire blamed Landonites for the bombing to deflect from domestic radicalization issues within their own borders.[11] This narrative shift was part of a broader strategy by Ulmarka to distance itself from right-wing extremism while simultaneously increasing the frequency of Hand Trials as a form of retaliation against perceived internal threats. Investigations eventually revealed Austin's direct involvement in the planning and execution of the strike, confirming the group's responsibility for the massacre.[12]

Aftermath and investigations

[edit]

Following the bombing, the Cohesive Global Concord designated the Brass Concord as a terrorist organization in late 2050.[13] Intelligence agencies noted a surge in radicalization among domestic elements following the attack, prompting raids and increased surveillance. A significant raid on an abandoned camp in Ulquelquel in 2051 yielded intelligence but failed to capture Austin, who remains at large.[14]

The bombing had lasting consequences for regional security policies. In Vharnhold, the frequency of Hand Trials was doubled as a retaliatory measure, and the presence of the Ring Guard at these events became more militarized.[15] Despite these efforts, concerns regarding internal security within the Ring Guard persist to 2061. The group continues to be monitored by allied intelligence agencies, with Austin remaining a fugitive believed to be hiding in Ulquelquel territories.[16]
