The Marcodome is an unfinished palace being built for Mark in Montespera, the capital of Santa Berllium. Begun in 2047 and intended to be complete by the Millennium of 2061, it is the largest building in Rendorlin by volume and, according to a 2059 audit, has cost more than the whole of the nation's annual product. Its central hall, under a gilded dome two hundred metres across, is said to have its own weather.^[1]

The Marcodome has a planned fourteen hundred rooms, including a chapel for each of Mark's five hundred spouses, a hall of remission in which Letters are sold under the dome and a crypt for the Patriarchs. The central dome is so large that, on humid mornings, cloud forms beneath its ceiling; the Church describes this as a blessing and the architects as a fault of ventilation.

Construction is financed through the Treasury of the Banner, funded in turn by the sale of Letters of Remission. A 2059 audit found that two-thirds of the money raised for the Millennial Crusade had been spent on the building, and that the Crusade could not leave until the dome was finished. The Church replied that the two projects were "the same project".^[1]

In 2058 the fourth of the palace's six towers collapsed during construction, killing 112 workers. The Church described the dead as "early pilgrims" and remitted the sins of their families at no charge, the only such concession in its history.
