Portrait of █████'s Missing Daughter is a watercolor on heavy paper dated 1895 in the lower right corner. The work depicts a young girl in a grey shawl standing before a burnt fence; her face is obscured by shadow and the smudge of soot that covers the canvas. Created by █████ shortly after the ██████████ fire of 1892, the painting was bequeathed to a private trust following the artist's death in 1903 and has never been exhibited publicly since its creation. Conservation reports from 2050 noted that the pigment used for the background sky is unstable; repeated exposure to light causes the blue tones to fade into grey within weeks. The Trust prohibits removal from its climate-controlled vault in Wex Haven, citing the risk of irreversible damage to the medium.[
