Jorvald is a small fishing village located on the northeastern coast of Belador, situated at the mouth of the Ashland Strait. The settlement serves as a sheltered anchorage for vessels transit between the inland riverine systems of the region and the open waters of the Grand Circle Sea. While the broader area functions as a critical node for maritime traffic, the village itself remains a modest community defined by its reliance on local resources and seasonal tourism. The northern tip of the island, where Jorvald stands, faces Harrow Sound to the west and Ostria Bay to the north, creating a complex estuarine environment that supports diverse marine life under the environmental scrutiny of the Cohesive Global Concord. The community's origins trace back to 1893, a date traditionally marked by the death of The Wex Point Whistling.[1] Established by merchant descendants who constructed an estate overlooking the water shortly thereafter, Jorvald evolved slowly from a seasonal fishing outpost into a year-round port. █nlike many coastal settlements on Orylia that suffered destruction during the Protectorate Wars, Jorvald recorded no significant involvement in major conflicts despite its proximity to contested waters.[2] Its development was driven by commercial needs rather than military strategy, allowing it to maintain a distinct character separate from the industrial centers of the █lmarkan Empire or the political capitals of the Rendorlin continent.

The village is built upon protected granite cliffs that drop sharply into Harrow Sound, creating natural breakwaters that shield smaller fishing boats from the rougher seas of the Grand Circle Sea.[3] This geological feature has preserved a unique habitat for seals, seabirds, and endangered fish species found in the sound, leading to its designation as a protected area under national regulation.[4] The coastline is characterized by rugged headlands and small c
